Ümit V. Çatalyürek is currently a Professor and the Associate Chair of the School of Computational Science and Engineering in the College of Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He received his Ph.D., M.S. and B.S. in Computer Engineering and Information Science from Bilkent University, Turkey, in 2000, 1994 and 1992, respectively. Dr. Çatalyürek is a Fellow of IEEE and SIAM. He serve as the Editor-in-Chief for Parallel Computing.

Olcay Sertel obtained his PhD at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, the Ohio State University in 2010. He was working as a Research Associate at the Department of Biomedical Informatics under the supervision of Prof. Umit Catalyurek and Prof. Metin Gurcan. He was working jointly under Clinical Image Analysis Lab. on histological image analysis and under HPC Lab. on computational issues in processing very large histology imagery. He received his BSc. and MSc. degrees from Yildiz Technical University, and Yeditepe University, Istanbul, Turkey in 2004 and 2006, respectively, both in Computer Engineering.
